This tutorial we will learn how to create a Live USB OpenSUSE 12.2. Live USB With this we can boot the latest OpenSUSE 12.2 using flash disk. Software used in this tutorial is Imagewriter SUSE Studio, an application designed or made by the openSUSE community.
Imagewriter is available for Windows and Linux. In this tutorial, we are using a version of Windows with considerations for Windows users who want to try without having to install OpenSUSE 12.2 on the hard disk. Below the ledge create a Live USB OpenSUSE 12.2 using Imagewriter.
1. Download SuSe Studio ImageWriter for Windows
2. Run ImageWriter from Windows and plug your USB flash disk
In order to run this application, you will need .NET Framework 2.0 or later.
3. Browse to the OpenSUSE 12.2 ISO file. By default, you won't see the ISO file. But we still can use .ISO file by typing *.* on the file name as on the picture above to see the ISO files.
4. Press Copy to start copying the Live image to the flash disk.
5. When done, we can start using the USB flash disk to boot our PC to OpenSUSE 12.2.
Note: Make sure you are using a blank USB flash disk. You must delete all the partitions inside the flash disk and do not format it. Leave it as RAW. For more information please refer to this page.
