At first, Linux is a lightweight operating system and does not require a very high
specification hardware as Windows. But the new modern Linux now comes with 3D
features and visual effects that require hardware acceleration and
more complex processing. Perhaps you may ask what are the minimum
system requirements to run Linux Mint 13 on a PC or laptop smoothly.
I've been searched on Linux Mint official website but still could not find the official system requirements for the new Linux Mint 13. I also could not find on Linux Mint 13 user guide. According to wikipedia, the recommended minimum system requirements to run Linux Mint 13 are:
- 600 MHz x86 processor
- 512 MB RAM
- 5 GB Hard disk
- 800 x 600 monitor resolution
But in order to run Linux Mint 13 smoothly, your system should meet the following specs:
- 1 GHz x86 processor
- 1 GB RAM
- 10 GB disk space
- 1024 x 768 monitor resolution
- 3D accelerated VGA compatible
