After adding new hard disk to NAS4Free server, we need to format it in order to use it. This short tutorial will show you how to format a new disk on NAS4Free. I am using NAS4Free 9.1.0.1 on this tutorial. OK lets get into it.
- Login to NAS4Free web admin
- Go to Disks | Format
Select the disk you want to format from the drop down list (1). Then select the file system (2). I recommend you to use the default value for the file system which is UFS (GPT and soft update). Then give the volume label for the new disk (3).
Press Format disk button to start formatting the disk. Please note that this will delete any files inside the disk. So be careful when doing this. It will show something like this if the format process is successful.
OK at this point we've successfully format our new disk on NAS4Free. Next we will need to mount the disk before can be used. See you on the next NAS4Free tutorial.
